Courtney Bishop

Courtney Bishop

Born in London, England to a mother who was a nurse and a father who served in the Royal Air Force, Courtney came across the pond and has embraced Indianapolis as his home city. While living downtown, he has emceed sporting events and activities, was an announcer for the American Basketball Association and is affectionately known as “Mr. Indianapolis.” He’s performed at both Crackers Comedy Club, and Howl at the Moon (two of our social event venues), and does a pitch-perfect Louis Armstrong impersonation. He is also an avid sports enthusiast and entrepreneur, and is the founder and president of the World Cup of Cycling. Courtney doesn’t know a stranger and would love to meet you, show you pictures of his beautiful kids and tell you all about the Circle City.

Joe Lakis

Joe Lakis
Senior Partner with Norris, Tysse, Lampley & Lakis, LLP

Joe Lakis is a senior partner with the Washington, D.C. firm of Norris, Tysse, Lampley, and Lakis, LLP, a management-side employment law firm which, in addition to its traditional human resources compliance practice, also represents the Equal Employment Advisory Council (“EEAC”), the nation’s leading employer association dedicated to nondiscrimination and affirmative action compliance.

As EEAC’s Vice President of Policy and Strategic Initiatives, Joe is responsible for the design and development of products and services that enhance the value of EEAC membership, as well as advising the association’s members on workplace compliance matters. He has trained thousands of professionals, managers, and executives of Fortune 500 companies in the fields of human resources compliance and diversity. Joe is also the general counsel of Employment Advisory Services, Inc. (“EASI”), a consulting firm specializing in the design and development of corporate EEO and affirmative action compliance programs.

Joe received his law degree from Hofstra University School of Law. He is admitted to the bars of New York, Illinois, Connecticut, and the District of Columbia, and the federal courts in the Northern District of Illinois.

Brad Stevens

Brad Stevens
Head Men's Basketball Coach, Butler University

Coach Brad Stevens sits on top of the list for best basketball coaching starts in NCAA history. In the 2010-11 season, the Bulldogs, led by Stevens, won the Horizon League tournament to secure an automatic NCAA tournament bid. On March 26, 2011 Butler beat Florida 74-71 in overtime to earn back-to-back trips to the Final Four and then went on to beat VCU 70-62 to make it to their second consecutive championship game. The Bulldogs lost in the final to the University of Connecticut, 53-41, on April 4th, 2011. Coach Stevens is now the youngest coach to ever lead a NCAA team to consecutive national championship appearances.

Steve Uzzell is one of the top advertising and corporate photographers in the United States. He started in the photography business 39 years ago as the assistant to the editor of National Geographic and a member of their photographic staff. He now shoots for a roster of clients that include airlines and automobile manufacturers; travel, shelter and fashion magazines; six of the United States, and three foreign countries. His work has garnered international acclaim and won numerous awards, including ten from Communication Arts. Along the way he has photographed two books, Maryland, and the View From Sterling Bluff and had editorial work published in over 100 publications.

David Baffa

David Baffa

Mr. Baffa is co-chair of the Workplace Compliance Solutions Group, focusing on change management and the delivery of proactive solutions that help clients avoid mass litigation and develop internal compliance initiatives. He has assisted numerous clients with business restructuring and workforce reductions, led the centralization and process-mapping of leave of absence and disability accommodation management, conducted large pay equity, exempt-status and pay practice assessments, and developed tools and systems for assessing employee engagement, reviewing hiring processes, and analyzing independent contractor and other alternative worker arrangements. Mr. Baffa has also conducted extensive employee and management training through Seyfarth Shaw At Work, including mitigating social media risk, leave management training, anti-harassment training and positive employment relations training. He is a certified Six Sigma Green Belt and uses the SeyfarthLean approach to deliver increased value to clients. In 2009 and 2010, Mr. Baffa was listed by Legal 500 as one of six "Leading Lawyers" in the United States in the area of Workplace and Employment Law Counseling.

Josh Bleill

Military Veteran & Community Spokesperson, Indianapolis Colts

Marine Corporal Joshua Bleill graduated from high school in Greenfield, Indiana, and attended Purdue University. He joined the Marine Corps Reserves in 2004 and was activated for a tour of duty in Iraq in 2006. He was conducting combat patrols in Fallujah on October 15 of that year when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device. He suffered multiple injuries including the loss of both his legs. Bleill moved home to Indiana in August 2008 and was married to his wife, Nikki, in 2009. He recently built a home in Carmel and has joined the Indianapolis Colts as a community spokesperson. His co-authored book, One Step at a Time: A Young Marine's Story of Courage, Hope, and a New Life in the NFL was released in September 2010.

His investment arms, Second Generation Ltd. and X Gen Ltd., are owners and investors in many diverse businesses, including marketing, Bio Medical, Teleradiology, manufacturing and Internet, including the Top Level Domain (TLD) .jobs.

Pam Gerassimides

National Labor Exchange Director and Assistant Executive Director, NASWA

Pam Gerassimides is the Assistant Executive Director of the National Association of State Workforce Agencies (NASWA). She also serves as the Director of the National Labor Exchange (NLX), an alliance formed between NASWA and DirectEmployers to provide an employer-funded, jointly-administered National Labor Exchange (NLX) as a replacement for the discontinued America’s Job Bank.

Marilyn Mackes is the executive director of the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), a position she assumed in 1997. In her extensive interactions with recruiting professionals, leaders in business and education, and the media, she addresses issues such as employment and salary trends, benchmarking and best practices, candidate expectations and developing effective recruiting strategies.

Jon Reiner

Author

Jon Reiner is the author of his debut memoir The Man Who Couldn’t Eat, published by Simon and Schuster. The book is based on a story of the same title he wrote for Esquire which won the 2010 James Beard Foundation Award for Magazine Feature Writing, was nominated for a National Magazine Award, and was translated into multiple languages for international publication.

After earning a B.A., magna cum laude, in English and theater at Fairleigh Dickinson University and an M.A. in English at the University of Maryland, where he was an instructor of writing and literature, he worked for two decades as a creative executive for Sony, Interpublic Group, American Express and the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. Jon lives in New York City with his wife and two children and is writing his next book, Chutes and Ladders, a memoir of finding work and meaning in an age of unemployment.

He is still learning how to cook.

Leading Pinnacle’s Recruitment Compliance Consulting Practice Group, David Scheffler serves as Senior Director of Affirmative Action and Compliance Consulting for Pinnacle Affirmative Action Services, LLC. Scheffler brings more than 13 years of experience in the Affirmative Action/EEO, technology, and recruitment industries, helping clients evaluate their Affirmative Action plan development process and implement new strategies to ensure that their recruitment practices are compliant. Through Scheffler’s knowledge of the OFCCP, he provides strategic consulting focused on insuring that federal contractors are in compliance with the agency’s regulations. His clients include Comcast, Waste Management, Texas Instruments, SunTrust Bank, and Jacobs Engineering.

Prior to joining Pinnacle, Scheffler was the Director of Compliance and Process Engineering for HRworks, LLC in Atlanta. HRworks is nationally-recognized for providing recruitment services compliant with the OFCCP’s Internet Applicant Ruling. Prior to HRworks, Scheffler was team lead and solution consultant for Peopleclick and former manager of Sales Engineers for Criterion, Inc. in Dallas, Texas, where he developed solutions for vendor management, Affirmative Action, succession and workforce planning for Fortune 500 clients.

David speaks regularly on the subject of OFCCP compliance and its impact on recruitment practices, processes and technology, and has been a top rated presenter at the ILG National Conference. He is on The Executive Committee of the Atlanta Industry Liaison Group, and served as the Marketing Chair of the 27th Annual ILG National Conference, which was hosted in Atlanta in August of 2009. Scheffler received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Houston.
